how to make a hair scrunchie

does anyone remember when you were younger wearing scrunchies in your hair? at first school or primary school when you wore a scrunchie which matched your summer dress and feeling like you could go on the next cover of vogue??
more and more people have started wearing them again and the other day i found my stash from when i was little. they were all quite plain so i decided to make some more out of pretty fabric and they can really add a pop of colour:)

MATERIALS NEEDED: 10CM X 50CM {4" X 20"} FABRIC -- MATCHING THREAD -- 20CM {8"} ELASTIC {IF YOU DON'T HAVE ANY THEN YOU COULD USE A HAIRBAND}
EQUIPMENT NEEDED: SCISSORS -- HAND SEWING NEEDLE -- PINS -- PENCIL OR TAILORS CHALK TO MARK THE FABRIC -- RULER/TAPE MEASURE -- SAFETY PIN(S)

1. cut out a piece of your chosen material measuring 10cm x 50cm {4" x 20"}. this includes 1.5cm {1/2"} seam allowance so don't worry about adding that on.

2. pin together lengthways with right sides together.

3. sew together 1.5cm away from the edge {i have made it this big just so that it is easier to see}
{this can easily be done by hand however i have used my sewing machine as it is quicker}

4. cut the seam allowance down to 0.5cm and begin to turn the right way out.

5. once it is all turned out, attached the safety pin to the end of the elastic and begin to feed through the inside of the tube of fabric.
it may make it easier to use another safety pin to attach the other end of elastic to the fabric so that it doesn't slip.

6. tie the two ends of elastic together and cut off the loose ends.

7. turn the raw edges inside and use a slip stitch to close the gap by hand.

DONE :)

i hope that you enjoyed this tutorial...i hope to do many more in the future:) comment down below any suggestions of things you would like me to make

april's five favourites

I haven't done a favourites post in ages now partly because they are just so long but I have decided to narrow it down to five favourites each month and I will aim to do it at the end of each month:) so here we go...

1. Marks & Spencer - moroccan mint & white tea
wow...well..what can I say...this drink is honestly incredible:) it has a lovely blend of mint and white tea and tastes amazing:) I bought it the whilst out shopping once because I wanted something cold to drink and this was only one pound and ever since I have been asking my mum to bring some back when she goes to work:) it's not to sweet but doesn't have a bitter taste which is perfect:)

2. argan oil - hair treatment
lately the ends of my hair have been feeling insanely dry, mainly due to having such long hair because the ends are pretty dead. I never straighten or curl my hair but I do use a hair dryer to dry it:) I have heard so many good things about moroccan oil products but they're slightly out of my budget but when I saw this argan oil hair treatment in poundland I thought that I would give it a try. you just towel dry your hair and then run through about 4-5 drops with your finger trying to avoid the roots. I have definitely felt a difference as my hair is much softer and because of this it has been reducing split ends and also doesn't make my hair overly greasy after using it.

3. aussie - 3 minute miracle deep conditioner
this is another one pound product which I wanted to give a try to try and combat my dry hair. after shampooing my hair I leave it one for around 2-3 minutes whilst washing the rest of my body and then rinse it off. firstly it has an incredible smell which is always a bonus and also makes my hair feel really soft without making it greasy or shiny (which I don't particularly like). I have been using it every time I wash my hair this month and even though it's only the small 75ml bottle it is still going strong so I am very pleased:)

4. almond milk
I can have dairy milk and I do like having it on my cereal and to drink but I have found a new love:) I don't have a photo (because my mum through away the carton...) but the one I bought is called 'almond breeze'. first I got the original one as I thought that that would be the best place to start and I absolutely loved it:) It has a more watery texture compared to normal milk but the taste is wonderful. I love almonds anyway which this tastes of and actually has a really nice after taste which I wasn't really expecting:) Some people drink it because it only has 48 calories per glass but I just think it tastes nicer:) I also went back and got the chocolate version and..well...it was wonderful:)))

5. spring harvest
during my easter holidays, on the 9th - 14th april, I went to a christian event/gathering at butlins in mindhead:) It is a huge event with people coming from across the country:) it was absolutely incredible and I was so happy to spend it with such amazing people:) I am actually going to do a full post on my whole time there which should hopefully be going up this or next week:)

THIS IS ONE OF THE MANY PHOTOS FROM THE WEEK:) WE WENT TO THE BEACH ONE DAY AND MADE PYRAMIDS AND IT WAS SO FUN:) I WAS ON THE TOP BECAUSE I'M THE SHORTEST (WHAT A SURPRISE), THEN JENNY AND ANNIE IN THE MIDDLE AND KIRA, KATT AND HOLLY ON THE BOTTOM:)
{MANY MORE PHOTOS WILL BE UP SOON:)}

i hope that you have a great morning/afternoon/evening/night/whenever you are reading this and check back again on wednesdays for a new post and sundays for something crafty:)

my favourite magazine

many people my age will probably have favourite magazines such as elle and glamour and company which i do still love but my favourite is called mollie makes ;) the target market is probably for women triple my age however i would much prefer to read about and see photos of things to make and inspiring crafts instead of attractive and beautiful models which i'll just cry at because i'll never look like:) it just makes me much happier:)

mollie makes is a monthly magazine which is 4.99 and is full of crafts to make, diys, interviews with leading designers, room and house tours and also information on new books, tv shows and shops coming soon. it has articles on beauty, fashion, the home and also popular designers which i know may not be what everyone is interested in but it is what i love:)

each month, along with the magazine, you receive and free gift such as buttons, ribbons or a kit of something to make from a designer and these kind of things really excite me...

in the kits you receive everything you need to make something. in the past it has been things such as a fabric purses, keyrings, brooches and many more. it includes absolutely everything so you have all of the materials to make the product which is absolutely great for beginners:)

this month, the free gift was a kit to make a fabric flower brooch. you received all of the fabric, a button, the brooch pin, and even a needle and thread. all of the instructions are inside so there is no excuse for why you couldn't make it:)

it is a great magazine for both beginners and also more experienced sewers:) one of my favourite parts is the house tour around a designers home and in this issue it was around tone finnanger's home {the entrepreneur behind the popular tilda brand}. I WANT TO LIVE THERE!!!

{here is a link to molliemakes.com which is also full of wonderful articles and posts}

i hope that you have a great morning/afternoon/evening/night/whenever you are reading this:)
